A Conversation with Dae Mellencamp & Deborah Szajngarten of Vimeo
by Ramon Nuez || HUFFINGTON POST || JAN 2010
When many of us think about watching videos we think of YouTube. I think the rationale is simply because of the mind share and Google has a great deal to do with that consumer development. Google is simply everywhere – handsets, browsers, telephones, applications and videos so it’s easy to understand why we have YouTube on the brain.
I have heard of other video sites but never really ventured off the beaten path. One day I was discussing video content with a good friend and he mention how much he loves Vimeo. I went over to the site and quickly realized why he felt that way. The videos are nothing less than beautiful – many of them bordering on being professional pieces. >>MORE

Bollywood at Jaipur Literature Festival
by Sunil Sethi || NDTV January 23, 2010 (Jaipur)
The Bollywood brigade made a beeline at the Jaipur Literature Festival and they were not mere spectators but active participants. Lyricists Gulzar and Javed Akhtar, songwriter Prasoon Joshi and actors Shabana Azmi and Rahul Bose were making their presence felt in various ways.
Films need good stories and books provide them. But that’s not the only reason why the film industry’s screenwriters, songwriters and actors were present at the Jaipur Literature Festival this year.
Each of them made a significant contribution by partipating in public discussions, moderating panels and reading poetry.
While Om Puri was promoted his biography and read Girish Karnad’s Tughlak On Stage, Shabana Azmi attended in her role as social activist and took the opportunity to release her mother’s memoir of Kaifi Azmi.
“I think Jaipur is the great literature festival of Asia, it has the buzz. It has made the world of books glamorous again,” said Shabana Azmi.
Actor Rahul Bose said, “I love books, two of my films are based on books and I have just bought the rights to Mohsin Hamid’s Moth Smoke. Also the fact is that filmmakers need stories, where else will they find except from writers who’s already done all the hard work for them.”
Javed Akhtar and Gulzar are regulars at literary events but now the Jaipur Literature Festival is firmly added to their annual calendar. They were mobbed by fans wherever they went.
Javed Akhtar said, “It’s my first time but I will now come here every year etc.”
Gulzar said, “It’s a festival that needs to be nurtured.”
